The Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8, by Johannes Brahms was composed at the age of 21. The composer produced a revised version of the work 35 years later. It is the only work of Brahms to exist today in two published versions, although it is almost always the revised version that we hear performed today.

Based on the Passacaille (Chaconne) from the Harpsichord Suite No. 7 in G minor by Handel, Halvorsen’s Passacaglia is a virtuosic duo for solo violin and viola, later made world famous by artists such as Leopold Auer and Jascha Heifetz.
